The fifth episode of the #ConTechTrio Podcast aired last Friday where James Benham @JamesMBenham, Rob Mckinney @ConAppGuru, and Josh Bone @Bim2TheBone were joined by special guest, VP of Strategic Development at @Bluebeam, Sasha Reed @alohasasha. Throughout the episode, construction news was shared, with a focus on virtual reality, 3D printing and the PDF Revolution. Sasha Reed from Bluebeam joined the #ConTechTrio to discuss the Construction PDF Coalition and how it is aiming to streamline and transform file collaboration in the construction industry.
The trio shared a lot of news in regards to the large impact Virtual Reality and 3D printing are expected to have not only on the construction industry, but the future of technology. The article, “Google’s secret VR weapon is Project Tango”, by @verge coincides with the Trio’s predictions on how VR will impact technology moving forward. Google Project Tango was discussed as this new Google tablet combines 3D motion tracking software with sensors that enable the mobile device to know how users move through space. A new competitor to the VR world was introduced as Stimuli has released a VR headset that can fit in your pocket. @autodesk is also keeping pace with the transition to VR as they recently announced that in the next several months many of their existing products will be enabled to be used in the VR format. In the second half of the podcast, Sasha Reed, @alohasasha, joined the #ConTechTrio to discuss the goals of the Construction PDF Coalition and how Bluebeam is implementing streamlined PDF solutions to advance and improve construction work flows. @cpcoalition is a grassroots effort to create guidelines for standardized and smarter PDFs that easily transfer between designers, constructors, and all other project team members. The coalition has a linkedin group page where construction professionals can share input on the usability and suggestions for the Construction PDF Coalition to implement in their guidelines. Sasha also shared the latest Bluebeam news as the company has just launched Revu 2016 that has a core focus on efficiency and eliminating clicks.
