Last Friday, Season 1, Episode 9 of the #ConTechTrio podcast aired in which James Benham @jamesmbenham, Rob McKinney @conappguru and Josh Bone @bim2thebone were joined by special guest Peter Grant from @safesitetech to discuss the latest in construction tech news. Peter Grant, CEO of Safesite, about the origin and future development of Safesite, and the impact that the latest OSHA regulation on Silica will have in construction.
Topping off the construction news segment included the exciting news that the #ConTechTrio podcast has reached over 4,000 plays and 968 followers! The Trio thanks each and every one of it’s listeners and hopes you all will keep listening to stay up to date with the latest happenings in construction tech. The Trio recently was in attendance at the MCAA Annual Convention in Orlando for mechanical contractors and recorded several bonus episodes. James also spoke at the convention regarding apps, data security, and the future of construction technology.
Last week in construction tech news it was announced that Dodge Data has acquired Ingenium Technologies. This merger will integrate Dodge content into construction workflows.@constructdive also released the news that an Italian company named WASP has announced plans to build an entire Italian village, including the furnishings, using 3D printing. James also announced that he will be speaking at the BuiltWorlds Tech CEO Forum in Chicago on April 20-22. The event is catered towards CEO’s in construction that are interested in learning more about construction technology and its implementation.
This past week Revu also announced that it will be officially releasing to Mac platforms on April 12th! In addition, Apple and Itunes are releasing many new updates including the new iPhone 6SE with a smaller 4.7 inch display and the smaller iPad Pro with a 9.7 inch display. iTunes U also released updates that enables the same app to be launched on every user’s screen, this learning tool could lead to improved training and education for construction teams.
Merger news continued as Trimble has acquired EastCoast CAD/CAM. This acquisition helps to diversify Trimble’s portfolio of solutions for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sheet metal contractors and engineers. OSHA also made headlines as they have finally come to a final ruling in regards to Silica that goes into effect in June.This ruling is aimed to save the lives of more than 560 construction workers. Last week, Skycatch also released prediction that $11.2 billion will be spent globally on drones over the next 5 years. @constructdive also reported the exciting news the Architectural Billings Index rose to 50.3 in February from 49.6 the previous month indicating a rise in design services.
Peter Grant, CEO and Founder of @safesitetech, was interviewed by the ConTechTrio concerning safety management through apps like Safesite. In his interview, Peter discussed how he got started in construction and what lead Safesite to move from Australia to the U.S. market. Safesite is a platform that manages all the safety information used in construction including processes and 3rd party applications that analyzes data to create scores that can predict the severity and location of possible safety issues. In the interview, Peter unveiled future plans for Safesite’s development and his opinions in regards to the new Silica ruling by OSHA.
