#ConTechTrio Podcast Episode 1.2 aired this past Friday, February 5th (and every Friday!). James Benham (@JamesMBenham), Rob McKinney (@ConAppGuru), and Josh Bone (BIM2TheBone) shared the latest construction technology news and reviewed plan management solutions for contractors. Special guest Matt Hinson, the CEO of @Rollout_Inc, was also present to discuss the new and exciting AEC technology in the works at Rollout.
Construction news during the first week of February included headlines involving Autodesk, World of Concrete, and the Super Bowl. Autodesk announced last week that restructuring of their company would be occurring. In doing so they will be losing 10% of their workforce and focusing more on cloud technology with the introduction of their BIM 360 Docs which allows for easy sharing of documents and plans.
New technology was also revealed at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas this past week. Topcon made waves with the introduction of the next generation of Bulldozer integration and StockPileReports.com also made headlines with their mobile platform that analyzes stock pile levels in real time. And of course the Super Bowl made the news as Levi’s Stadium, which was constructed just for the big game, was a project that costed $100 million dollars and was completed in only 100 days.
The #ConTechTrio also spent time reviewing construction technology solutions including Skysite, CurrentSet by Procore, and PlanGrid. All these solutions were commended on their use of cloud technology to save the construction industry money as the old school printing of physical plans is becoming extinct. Matt Hinson, CEO of Rollout, commented on his company’s cloud solutions for plan management and unveiled their newest venture into the hardware industry. Rollout has invented an interactive projection display that has the ability to project plans on table tops which allows for easier user interaction. Hinson will demo this new Rollout product at the Texas A&M University Construction Tech Demo Day on February 11th.
